ILIGAN CITY ----- The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) Bantay COVID-19 in Lanao del Norte confirms five of its health workers tested positive of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody in a targeted rapid testing on Thursday (May 14).
Lanao del Norte Governor Angging Dimaporo in a recorded statement posted on the official social media page of the province said the five health workers are assigned at the provincial hospital in Baloi town.
“They are among the 44 front liners in Baloi who submitted themselves for the rapid testing,” Dimaporo said.
The provincial government of Lanao del Norte started its targeted testing to frontliners, especially the medical workers, using the rapid antibody test kits.Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is the most common antibody. It's in blood and other body fluids, and protects against bacterial and viral infections. IgG can take time to form after an infection or immunization
The five health workers were immediately swabbed for the confirmatory polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and were confined in the provincial quarantine facility, the old hospital in Kapatagan town.
The results are expected to be available in a week.
As precautionary measures, Dimaporo said, the IATF has started contact tracing while the other health workers of Baloi provincial hospital were also quarantined.
The facility was temporarily closed for disinfection and will only be opened if the PCR test results of the five health workers will yield negative results, according to Lyndon Calica, Lanao del Norte IATF Incident Command Center chief.
