Army’s 4ID combats CoViD-19 in Cagayan de Oro City

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City – To combat the spread of the Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 19 in Cagayan de Oro City, the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division initiated a loud speaker operations through its 4th Civil-Military Operations “Kasaligan” Battalion and Task Force Oro this April 2, 2020 in Cagayan de Oro City. Armed with information and advisories from the Department of Health (DOH), the CMO operators conducted the said activity with film showing and distribution of leaflets at the Bulua Fish Landing with Ms. Irene Floro, President, CDO City Seafood Wholesaler Association, Cogon Market with Ms. Marse Dacoco, OIC, City Economic Enterprise Department (CEED) and Carmen Market with Ms Mary Sean Molig, Manager and Mr. Elvin Echeveria, spokesperson all in Cagayan de Oro City. Agnes Montealto, a resident of Brgy. Patag, CDO City appreciated the said activity, “Tama gyud ang gibuhat sa atong kasundaluhan tungod daghan pa ang mga katawhan nga wala kahibalo sa COVID-19 ug daghan ang wala nagatuman sa mga pahimangno sa gobyerno.” (What the soldiers did is right because many of the people don’t fully understand what COVID-19 is and many are still not following the advisories of the government.) Ms. Irene Floro said, “I really am thankful to our soldiers for conducting this activity because we really have to be informed about COVID-19 and we have to follow the law and cooperate.” Maj. Gen. Franco Nemesio Gacal, the Commander of 4th ID said, “We have just started with our loud speaker operations and we plan to deploy more teams in the coming days to cover the whole City of Cagayan de Oro. This is one of our ways of assisting our local government unit in managing and controlling the spread of the virus.” “We are at war against an invisible and invincible enemy. We must arm ourselves with information about the disease, how to contain its spread and protect our high risk elderly and other vulnerable. Let’s all observe the health protocols and stay at home to save lives,” Gacal ended
