Oh yes I’m the great pretender/Pretending that I’m doing well/My need is such I pretend too much/I’m lonely but no one can tell/Oh yes I’m the great pretender/Adrift in a world of my own/I play the game but to my real shame/You’ve left me to dream all alone -- excerpts from the song The Great Pretender written by Buck Ram and performed by The Platters.
IT’S all about money and power why we have so many great pretenders in government.
And one sad thing: these great pretenders are making this country adrift with so much worries – from bukbok rice to the skyrocketing prices of everything we use every day.
Name it, we have practically all the worries under the sun, including this thing called inflation ordinary mortals in the street probably fail to understand what is this shit all about.
Thanks but no thanks to the many great pretenders in public service.
We have a country with so much of everything in rhetoric form, yet too little of anything we want to have on our table.
Here comes Trillanes, one of the great pretenders in the Senate that keeps on harassing and embarrassing the President and his administration to the hilt.
Trillanes calls this democracy in action, but when the government hits back and files charges against him, he calls it political persecution.
For as long as gets free publicity, Trillanes don’t exactly mind the decision of the Supreme Court denying him the petition for writ of preliminary injunction and the TRO on President Duterte’s proclamation that voided his amnesty.
That’s how this idiot senator spends his day in the Senate where he is holed up courtesy of Senate President Tito Sotto.
With all these hullabaloos, let’s find out what is in the mind of the President and why he speaks bad language against Trillanes.
For the President who, most often than not, speaks to a wide audience, this poses a lot of questions and dangers on his presidency.
His latest appearance on PTV-4 with Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo was an outright PR failure done by his PR people headed by PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar.
The President does not realize that his greatest enemy is his own self, his mouth, because he thinks he knows all the answers which Trillanes had always his heydays barking him on the Senate floor.
On the other hand, Panelo justifies the personality of his boss: He talks of a Public Duterte. The President is a communication phenomenon who enjoys high reverence because he is well- understood and appreciated by the greater mass.
Well said from an avid presidential legal adviser. But all things considered, this country does not need great pretenders, what the people want are great achievers (firstname.lastname@example.org)
