XAVIER Science Foundation Inc., a local non-government organization (NGO), in partnership with the United States Embassy in the Philippines honored 132 women leaders from Lanao del Norte during the Women Organizations Managing Agri-based Networks (WOMAN) recognition ceremony last September 4 at 9:00 in the morning at the Xavier University Little Theater in Cagayan de Oro City.
The ceremony highlighted the achievements of WOMAN beneficiary organizations, their successes and challenges in managing their respective organizations and strengthen their partnerships with local government units (LGUs) and other stakeholders. The project also supported the Lanao Norte Processors Federation, an umbrella organization that will foster sustainability efforts of the 42 women organizations of the province.
WOMAN is supported by the United States government through the State Department's Office of Global Women's Issues that has supported the initiative in training leaders of women's cooperatives to create economic opportunities for themselves and their members through microenterprise development and by improving agricultural productivity. The two-year project started in 2016 to reduce poverty among women and promote peace and development among communities in the province.
Started in 1968, Xavier Science Foundation aims to develop Mindanao as a center for agricultural development, working as a conduit of funds, initiator of innovative programs and a forum for dialogues. PR
