Filipino phone manufacturer Starmobile, the mobile subsidiary of Star Telecom Alliance Resources, Inc. (STAR, Inc.), is the official device partner of Smart Communications as it embarks on a nationwide initiative to improve the availability and speed of its Long Term Evolution (LTE) service.
Starmobile recently provided top-of-the-line LTE devices such as the UP Selfie and UP Prime to help Smart demonstrate its LTE connectivity in the country’s northernmost province Batanes to local government representatives and residents. Given the lack of mobile phone stores in Batanes, the event allowed the locals to purchase affordable LTE devices on the spot and experience the much-improved connection in their province.
“Starmobile has always been at the forefront of making technology more accessible for Filipinos,” said Ardie Balderrama, Sales and Marketing Head of Starmobile. “This partnership with Smart Communications allows us to reach more Filipinos and educate them about how our devices can empower them in their daily lives.”
“Starmobile is one of Smart’s most trusted technology partners for many years now because of its high-quality, reliable, and affordable mobile devices built for Filipino customers in mind,” said Jingky Cajulao, Smart Prepaid. “Their LTE-powered devices are well-equipped to showcase the capabilities of Smart’s LTE connectivity.”
Starmobile and Smart will continue to work together for the LTE enhancement with the goal to bring 3G and LTE internet to more than 90% of the Philippine population by the end of 2018.
