The Social Security System or SSS claims of losing about P10-billion if the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) refuses to return the 7 hectare land beside the GSIS building in Pasay City.
The SSS lost to NCGP in an expropriation case in 2015. The SSS appealed the case but the court dismissed it.
The agency is now pleading to the NGCP not to take the land where SSS plans to build a hospital and corporate center.
Chairman of investment oversight committee, Pompee Laviña said, “Let’s give a little care. Let’s not take the land of poor Filipinos.”
The NGCP argues that the land in dispute is the best location to build the Pasay substation based on their several years of planning.
NGCP Spokesperson Atty. Cynthia Alabanza said, “The substation that we will build is an not establishment for private use. This will cater the entire Metro Manila. And that’s the only purpose of that.”
The SSS has already appealed the case to the Supreme Court, and asked it to issue a temporary restraining order for the land dispute. – Mon Jocson | UNTV News and Rescue
