Last September 12, the SM Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers Training Program was launched in Barangay Balubal, Cagayan de Oro. The project aims to empower farmers through the season-long training on improved and doable agricultural technology.
About 130 small scale farmers from neighboring barangays such as Bugo, Puerto, Agusan, Indahag and Balubal will undergo the 12 training sessions to be conducted by Harbest Agribusiness Corporation.
SM Foundation has already implemented 153 Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan Farmers Training projects nationwide for the past 10 years. It is a tripartite program funded by SMFI with the support of the City Government of Cagayan de Oro and Department of Agriculture.
