ACCLAIMED Cagayan de Oro-based pianist Rudolf Golez presents an all-Mozart concert this February 20 at Rodelsa Hall as part of the run-up to the 62nd foundation anniversary of Liceo de Cagayan University in Cagayan de Oro City.
For the benefit of the Rodolfo N. Pelaez Foundation Scholarship Program, Golez’s Mostly Mozart concert will feature Mozart sonatas Allegro Maestoso, Andante cantabile con esspresione and Presto in A minor K 330, Allegro molto, Adagio and Allegro assai in C minor K 457 and Allegro, Andante and Rondo in C Major K 545. Of course, he will also perform Rondo Capriccioso (Mendelssohn), Scherzo in b-flat minor No. 2 (Chopin) and Rhapsody in Blue (Gerswhin).
Golez’s 6:00 p.m. concert will be echoed in a similar one a week after on February 26 at Paseo de Magallanes in Makati City.
Golez started basic piano lessons at age four with his mother at Lourdes College. At age 11, he was already performing before then First Lady Imelda Marcos. Golez left for New York City at the mere age of 13 and studied at Julliard School. From thence, he never looked back reaping prizes such as the prestigious First Asean Chophin International Piano Competition.
