As part of the disaster preparedness program to manage the hazards of earthquake, RTWPB-X joins the simultaneous nationwide earthquake drill on January 21, 2019 spearheaded by DOLE-X Regional Office in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense. The drill exercise seeks to manage proper procedures and develop employees’ awareness on the safety measures and procedures before and after an earthquake. Each office has a designated marshal who will guide the employees during earthquake evacuation.
The drill started with the alarm drill bell where employees of the different departments and building occupants followed the DROP, COVER, and HOLD procedures.
DROP where you are, onto your hands and knees. This position protects you from being knocked down and also allows you to stay low and crawl to shelter if nearby.
COVER your head and neck with one arm and hand or anything that could protect your head. If a sturdy table or desk is nearby, crawl underneath it for shelter and stay on your knees; bend over to protect vital organs.
HOLD ON until shaking stops then slowly walk and look for a safe place where there’s no power lines, bridges, buildings, and overpasses, tall building or trees.
The drill was also participated by the DOLE-X Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental Field offices, NCMB-X, BIR-X, OWWA-X, TESDA-X, POEA-X, ECC and OSHC regional extension units, and other building occupants such as Regent Furnishing and De la Serna Law Office.
