CAMP Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City--A combined operatives from the military and the police of the Martial Law Special Action Group (MLSAG) seized a cache of firearms and ammunitions during a raid on the residence of a village chief in Bukidnon, the military said Saturday.
Capt. Joe Patrick Martinez, the spokesperson of the army’s 4ID here, said that armed with a search warrant, the MLSAG team swooped down on the house of Eliazar Eboña, village chief of Gango, Libona, Bukidnon Friday morning.
He said that the MLSAG is composed of members of the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police, created following the declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao in May this year to pursue the government’s anti-criminality campaign, and stop the proliferation of the loose firearms in Northern Mindanao.
Seized from Eboña were M16 rifle with ammunition, AK47 with ammunition, three M22 rifles with ammunition, one caliber .45 with ammunition, one 9mm pistol with ammunition, five kilograms of suspected ammonium nitrate, a Kevlar and a bullet proof vest.
Martinez said that Eboña is now in the custody of the regional office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) while charges for violation of illegal possession of firearms and ammunitions were readied against him.
