THE provincial government of Misamis Oriental has turned over P3 million for 349 public elementary schools and 81 secondary public high schools in the province for their “Brigada Eskwela 2017” activities next week.
Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano said that Maylinda Vequezo, district supervisor of the Department of Education in Northern Mindanao, accepted the check during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at the provincial capitol.
He said the cash assistance would be distributed to the various public schools in Misamis Oriental in order for parents and teachers to prioritize the needs of the school.
”Small public schools would be extended P5,000 while medium-sized public schools would get P10,000. The big public schools would be entitled to P15,000 cash assistance,” Emano said.
He said the provincial government decided to extend cash assistance “to unburden the parents from donating money intended for the minor repair of public schools.”
Emano said that the amount could be used for the repair and painting of classrooms or the construction of pathways and canals in preparation for the rainy days during the opening of classes in June. (Nicole Roa Managbanag/PNA)
