CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY -- About 20 farmers from Misamis Oriental completed Friday a four-day training on cacao farming at the Eco-Tourism Village in Cugman, this city, Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano said.
Emano said the workshop was expected to encourage the farmers to produce quality cacao beans, which could provide them better market opportunities.
Bryan M. Apatan, the provincial agriculture planning officer, said that the farmers were provided the latest technologies in high value crop production, particularly cacao.
He said that the farmers were expected to adopt the diversified/integrated best practices in farming and the newest technologies for production, marketing and distribution designed to perk up the farm business.
Some of the objectives of the training was for the farmers to appreciate the introduction of
technologies, its principles and concepts and to share the best practices through farming innovations, adoption of combined customary and scientific approaches in farming technologies. (Nicole Roa Managbanag/PNA)
