The workshop composed of students, college graduates, out-of-school youth, Department of Education (DepEd) administrators and information technology (IT) coordinators, industry partners, academe, investors, government agencies and online workers.
It aims to educate Kapatagan residents on economic opportunities that can be obtained through home based online jobs.
The workshop featured talks from two online job and training platforms: Freelancer.ph and Online Jobs University. Local leaders of the Northern Mindanao ICT scene also discussed topics relevant to Rural Impact Sourcing and ICT (information, communication, technology) for development.
The workshop concluded with the awarding of training programs from Online Jobs University to two participants.
The activity is in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-ICT Office in partnership with the local government of Kapatagan and the provincial government of Lanao del Norte.
Kapatagan is a first-class municipality with farming as main source of livelihood but our town boasts its economy progressively with digitally-inclined citizens, said mayor Benjie Y. Baguio.
