JASAAN, Misamis Oriental – The local government of Jasaan under Mayor Gregorio Jonathan Po has conceptualized a tour package, covering all non-private tourist spots in his town – Agutayan White Island, the Philippine Sailfin Lizard Park and Sagpulon Falls – all these are either owned and operated by the LGU or by the provincial government of Misamis Oriental.
Expected to set in action by January next year, the tour package was formulated by Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano, who said Jasaan would be a catchment for tourists, following the development of the four tourism spots in line with the governor’s tourism priority program. The governor’s rationale was that overall income and livelihood opportunities of the whole town and eventually the whole province would revolve around the tourism industry.
The package offers sightseeing opportunity for the scenic and
breathtaking Agutayan White Island early in the morning. By 9 a.m., they will be guided to dock at the local fishport, where tourists are encouraged to buy local fish produce to be “barbecued” later during lunch time.
With, at least, two hours left before luncheon, tourists will then be steered towards the Philippine Sailfin Lizard Park, which has more than 50 reptiles under the custody of couple, Rodolfo and Alma Dael. They will then have lunch and enjoy the rest of the day in Sagpulon Falls. This early, Jasaan has already partnered with several hotels in Cagayan de Oro City, which will be handing out the tour package as part of their offerings.
The first hotel which heeded the call was N Hotel. Manager Ami Saniel herself graced the opening of the Agutayan jump-off point in barangay Jampason last week and met with Emano and Po to finalize the terms and conditions of such tour package. CO
