MANILA, PHILIPPINES, 7 JANUARY 2019 -- HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, is ending 2018 on a positive note. Growing a rigorous fan base and putting more phones out in the global market, the beloved brand went full swing last year, bringing to the market affordable and reliable mobile phones.
HMD Global Philippines Country Manager Shannon Mead said: “We are pleased with the progress we achieved together with our fans after only a short period of time here in the Philippines. It is a joy that we get to offer Filipinos phones they can rely on. We are humbled by the warm welcome our Nokia smartphone portfolio has received from our fans in the Philippines. Going forward, we will continuously strive to bring phones that deliver the innovations the Filipino market needs. Again, salamat to everyone who supported Nokia mobile.”
A strong global market player
In the third quarter, HMD Global CEO Florian Seiche announced a global funding amounting to US$100 million from multiple investors spearheaded by Geneva-based Ginko Ventures via Alpha Ginko Ltd with participation from DMJ Asia Investment Opportunity Limited and Wonderful Stars Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of FIH Mobile Ltd. This raised the company’s market value to US$ 1 billion, a feat that gave HMD Global a Unicorn status. With the funding, HMD Global will be making strategic investments in scaling its fast-growing business operations.
The company has also fortified its digital presence to reach even more fans and fans-to-be. The brand is present across different social media platforms, communicating with its fan base to update them on all things Nokia mobile. To efficiently address customers’ needs and concerns and to assure a worriless mobile experience, Nokia mobile now also has its Care Centers up in the digital space.
