HappyFresh, Asia’s leading online grocery company, today announced a new strategic partnership with Robinsons Supermarket, a subsidiary of Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc, redefining grocery shopping experience in the Philippines.
The collaboration marks the first partnership for HappyFresh in the Philippines as the company deepens its footprint in the country. With Robinsons Supermarket available on HappyFresh’s desktop and mobile application, customers can now enjoy a wider variety of goods and services and greater convenience when they order their groceries online. As HappyFresh’s first partner, Robinsons Supermarket will also be launching 20 branches in Metro Manila.
Isabel “Pao” Barrientos, Managing Director of HappyFresh Philippines said, “As one of the most populous and well-connected countries in Southeast Asia, the Philippines is an important country for HappyFresh in terms of market potential. Local customers recognize the convenience of on-demand and scheduled grocery delivery services and we are excited to be partnering with one of the largest supermarket chains in the country to bring quality service at a wide range of price points to our customers.”
Based on our data analytics, eight in 10 of our customers are women. Between working full-time and looking after their family, there is little time left to be stuck in a traffic jam when they make a trip to a nearby supermarket. As such, HappyFresh wants to alleviate this struggle by delivering groceries right to their doorstep,” she added.
Robinsons Retail Holdings saw a 21.9 percent increase in net income of P4.34 billion in 2015, partly driven by improved performance of its supermarket operations. As one of Manila’s most reputable and trusted supermarket, Robinsons Supermarket is a good fit and natural choice for HappyFresh’s expansion in the Philippines.
“Our collaboration with HappyFresh presents opportunity for us to digitalize our services and reach out to more customers who are increasingly using digital platforms to purchase necessities at their convenience. By offering next-hour delivery to our customers, we are able to positively differentiate ourselves from our competitors. In short, HappyFresh compresses 2000 square meters store floor in as little as a 4-inch smartphone screen,” said Mr. Jody Gadia, General Manager of Robinsons Supermarket.
“As a partner of choice for HappyFresh, we are also delighted that our extensive network of stores plays a meaningful role in helping local customers manage their grocery shopping. As the first major retailer to promote health and wellness, we are aligned with HappyFresh in their effort to promote healthy living through high quality and fresh food.” Mr. Gadia added.
HappyFresh is now accessible on desktop and mobile app in Metro Manila.
