WHEN four chefs from Monster Kitchen decide to create their own resto, what do you get? If you expect that the dishes are as high-priced as they taste, you’re dead wrong.
Four Café and Restaurant at the corner of Yacapin and Aguinaldo Streets in Cagayan de Oro City, which opened just last September 24, may look like your usual popup dining place. Wait till you’ll be served with the food that you order and you’ll be amazed not just gastronomically but visually and aromatically as well.
Because Khoki Yap-Saavedra, Mon Cardenas, Camille Montesines and Rachel Baclay are all strict disciplinarians at Monster Kitchen, they make sure that what is plated on your table is smoked, sautéed, baked, concocted to perfection.
And then you’d think this almost Michelin-kind of experience comes with a heavy price? Not at all. Consider this – Four’s Breakfast Overload (P220), Bib Eye Steaks (P330), Balsamic Honey Pork Chop (P190), Oven-baked Salmon (P220). I could go on and on.
“We – Camille, Mon, Rachel and I – all have the passion to create food. That’s why all of our creative juices are collectively poured here. We tremendously enjoy in what we do,” Khoki quips.
There’s no exact regional cuisine in what they serve although a quick glance at the menu once again would give you a hint – spicy shrimp linguine, grilled chicken salad, Vigan longganisa, creamy chicken marsala, pesto fettucine. In short, it’s a melting of culinary cultures.
“We just want to create a place for people to hang out, relax, chitchat and dine in good food,” Khoki says. The interiors alone can attest to that. The minimal black and white colors are designed so they can easily change according to season. Valentines? Then drop in red. Halloween? Just a little bit of dimness would do the trick.
So what are you waiting for? Drop by Four Café and Restaurant today. They’re open Mondays through Saturdays from 9a.m. till 9p.m. Of course, they do have a function room too good for 12 people at P2,000 consumable per head. Ain’t that swell?
But wait there’s more. Four Café and Restaurant also offers customized wedding cakes and dessert buffets for outside catering. And then get ready for the opening of their sports bar, Café 51 this October 28 at the second level. It’s gonna be a blast of that I’m a hundred percent sure.
EXPANDING from the South until it reaches the shores of Luzon, Blugre Coffee inaugurated its first Cagayan de Oro branch on August 24 at Pueblo de Oro Business Park. Established in June 1998, Blugre’s claim to fame is the signature drink, the durian coffeeccino, a hot capuccino concoction...
