The Department of Agrarian Reform and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Calamba, Misamis Occidental recently turned over 5 infrastructure projects under Bottoms-Up-Budgeting (BUB) benefitting 7 barangays in the municipality. The completed BUB projects which cost more than Php 5M ,consist of 4 farm-to-market road concreting projects providing easy access to some 2000 agrarian reform beneficiaries and 1 Day Care Center Improvement Project. The turnover ceremony was attended by DAR-10 Officials, Provincial and Municipal LGU Officials and officials of the barangays served by the projects.
Misamis Occidental Vice-Governor Aurora Virginia Almonte lauded the efforts of DAR and Calamba LGU under Mayor Ezel Villanueva for successfully implementing the projects. Mayor Villanueva also expressed her gratitude to the DAR for funding the projects under the Bottoms-Up-Budgeting.“ I hope these projects will spill over more developments in the area,” she said.
During the turnover ceremony, DAR Assistant Regional Director Teresita Depeñoso briefly explained the Agrarian Reform Community (ARC) development program strategies.“These BUB road concreting projects are part of the support services program implemented in the ARCs” Depeńoso said. Depeñoso also underscored the importance of sustaining the Seal of Good Housekeeping/Seal of Good Local Governance by the local government because it is now a requirement for approval of most government projects like BUB.
