CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Law enforcers in Misamis Occidental have prepared charges against 14 people nabbed during the simultaneous raid of the Parojinog residences in Ozamiz City, where the Mayor Reynaldo “ Aldong ” Parojinog, his wife, and siblings were killed in an alleged firefight with the raiding team early dawn Sunday.
Police Senior Insp. Julie Garcia, the provincial police information officer in Misamis Occidental, said that the suspects, now in the custody of the provincial police office, would be charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives and frustrated murder.
She identified the suspects as Junnard Arciaga, Nicolas Alboro, Manuel Paran, Nonito Camago, Jr. Nonito Camago III, Marcelito Betonio, Darci Parojinog, Heric Lamoren, Ricky Robles, Federico Panun- og , Juan Siguismondo, Christopher Margaha, Lucky Lou Bendong, Joshua De Los Santos, all belonged to the Parojinog family.
She said that the suspects were not part of the 11 other suspects arrested earlier along with Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog and were not also subject of the warrant issued by the Quezon City trial court.
“Some of the suspects were caretakers, houseboys, and security men,” Garcia said in a radio report monitored from here.
Garcia said that some suspects were found to be in the possession of illegal firearms, and others with illegal explosives.
She said that the charges would be filed individually according to the evidences recovered from the suspects during the simultaneous raid.
Garcia said that the case would be filed in the Ozamiz City court in coordination with the Ozamiz City police office.
The Misamis Occidental provincial police office was one of the coordinating team that joined in the simultaneous raid on the houses, residences, and farms of the Parojinog early dawn Sunday.
Mayor Parojinog, along with 14 others were killed in an alleged shoot out with the raiding team in Barangay San Roque, Lawis where Parojinog live.
Neighbors who reportedly witnessed the raid, however, alleged that there was no shootout, but it was the raiding team who reportedly fired and lobbed grenade at the house of Mayor Parojinog.
Garcia said that the police are still waiting for the result of the autopsy, conducted by the Scene of the Crime Office (SOCO), in order to make the final report of the incident.
The body of the Parojinogs now lies in state in Gamalinda Funeral Home. Vice Mayor Nova Princess Parojinog who was among those arrested and flown to Manila for the inquest and the filing of charges reportedly relayed to relatives in Ozamiz City to bring the body to San Roque during the wake.
Ms. Parojinog said that his father has instructed them that if he would die, he wants his body to be buried in Barangay San Roque to be with the people in Lawis.
