ILIGAN CITY ----- Authorities arrested on Wednesday, January 9, a 59-year old mother and her 24-year old daughter after they were confirmed to have been running a cyber crime activities at their house in Purok 5, Barangay Saray, Iligan City.
The operatives of the Regional Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (RIACAT) and personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 10, found positive that the mother and daughter has continuously doing online sexual acts with the children related to them.
During the operation, six children, four girls and two boys, were rescued aged one year and 11 months to 10 years old. Four of them were girls, two were boys.
Jec Sacan, center head of City Social Welfare and Development's Pag-asa Youth Home Center, said four of kids are children of the 24-year old suspect while the other two are her nephews.
"Mother and daughter ang mga suspects. Four of the kids are childrend of the daughter na suspect, ang dalawa ay apo nung mother sa ibang anak The kids were immediately brought to the regional office of DSWD-10," Sacan said.
Children at risk
Senior Inspector Russel Tuliao, head of the Women and Children Protection Center - Mindanao Field Unit (WCPC-MFU) said the younger suspect would take video of herself nude and doing obscene actions.
The WCPC-MFU and the RIACAT rescued the children because they were considered in risk situation according to Tuliao.
"Once they are in within the area we considered them in a risk situation so after all the proper processing made by the DSWD, they will decide on the situation of the children," Tuliao added.
Chief Inspector Allan Abalde, chief of Iligan City Police Station 5, said the two suspects were connected with another suspects arrested in a separate operation in Barangay Tambacan few years ago.
"These mother and daughter suspects we arrested the other day were connected with those we arrested in 2015. They were being paid as suppliers of nude photos and lewd videos. When those suspects in Tambacan were jailed, these latest arrested mother and daughter suspects took over as direct contacts to the foreigners who bought nude photos and porn videos," Abalde said.
Tuliao said the suspects (they arrested in Saray) were making several (social media accounts). It happened we entrapped one of his accounts and while engaging with her, she made a nude show and later she offered the children to do same thing. Under the law of trafficking in person, we have the act, means and purpose but when it comes to children means need not to prove so merely offering the children in sexual show is already a violation," Tuliao said.
NOTE: The DSWD requested not to mention the name of the suspects because it lead to the identification of the children.
