CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Another LBC branch in Cagayan de Oro fall victim into the hands of robbers during a broad daylight robbery on March 1, 2019 along Bulua national highway.
Call it an alleged recklessness or "inside job" but LBC management has continued to operate without employing the services of security personnel that made them an easy target.
City Councilor George Goking has issued another warning to close LBC branches in the city and also pushed for the closure of their operations in the city, due to the company management's alleged refusal to deploy security guards.
"They've been tainting the image of the city, I will talk to the city mayor and recommend for the stoppage of their operations," the city councilor told the media.
Several years ago, LBC branches in the city were victims of robberies and the City Government has recommended to employ security guards in their establishments. The city government has also recommended to install CCTV cameras in all LBC branches in Cagayan de Oro.
Aside from LBC Bulua Branch which was robbed a few hours ago, an LBC branch along Pabayo-Chavez streets was also robbed on February 14, 2019. Since LBC has no security guard on said branch, the only way to conduct investigation was through the CCTV cameras installed.
Police investigation disclosed that a number of LBC branches in the city were already robbed by still unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen that attacked usually in broad daylight when declaring hold ups. Other branches that were also victimized included LBC Velez-Neri branch, LBC Pabayo-Chavez sts, LBC Divisoria, Carmen, Max Suniel st, among others.
"I think the City Government has already warned to sanction LBC if it continues to ignore the deployment of security personnel. Other branches have complied but others still ignored the order made by City Officials," Mardy Hortillosa II, Cocpo spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, MDN online has conducted a thorough research and found out that not only LBC branches in Cagayan de Oro were victimized by the robbers believed to be a break away group and remnants of the Ozamis robbery syndicate.
Many branches all over the country were also robbed by motorcycle-riding robbery suspects. Those LBC branches in other parts of the country included LBC Surigao, LBC Iligan City, and Tagoloan town.
Many incidents of robberies involving LBC branches also happened in Cebu City. Police recorded LBC robberies in LBC F. Llamas St. in Punta Princessa, Cebu City; LBC branch on Escario St; and barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City; LBC Branch in Ipil town, Zamboanga Sibugay; LBC Fairview in Metro Manila; and many other undocumented robbery hold ups in all LBC branches in the country. - Video credit to GMANews
