CAGAYAN de Oro City--Three alleged members of Kuratong Baleleng gang were arrested last Monday during a raid in Apovel Subdivision, Barangay Bulua, this city.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Region 10 (PDEA-10) Director Adrian Alvariño confirmed that suspects Rico Bacon, his spouse Mary Ann and her sibling Virgilio are all identified with the Parojinog family or what was known in the olden times as the Kuratong Baleleng gang.
Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. and three members of his family were killed in a police raid last July 30.
In the October 11 raid in Cagayan de Oro City, Alvariño said the raiding team was armed with a search warrant issued by a judge from the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 27 in Gingoog City specifically at 683 Mother of Perpetual Help Avenue in the said gated community.
The 7:00 a.m. raid, which was conducted by PDEA-10 along with the Martial Law Special Action Group (MLSAG), caused the arrest of the three suspects who inhabited the house covered by the search warrant.
The suspects yielded 45 grams of shabu, two hand grenades and a 9mm pistol.
Alvariño said he is confident that they had a solid case since the suspects were already under surveillance for several months before they applied for the search warrant.
He added that complaints against possession of illegal substances and illegal firearms will be filed against the three.
The Martial Law Special Action Group is composed of the 4th Infantry Division, 10th Intelligence Support Unit, 10th Military Intelligence Group, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 10, Regional Intelligence Division 10, Task Force Oro and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA).
