DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte – A detainee, tagged as a big time drug pusher, was killed by a sniper at the back of the justice hall in this city, the police reported.
Supt. Lito Andaya, city police chief, identified the victim as RG Guico, 32, a resident of Barangay Barra, this city.
Andaya said Guico along with a fellow detainee, Arjay Recososa, have just disembarked from the vehicle of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at around 9:30 a.m., Friday at the back of the justice hall when a sniper shot him.
Guico and Recososa were scheduled to appear before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 10 where they are facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Guico, although wounded, managed to run and reached the office of the RTC Branch 6, together with his BJMP escorts and Recososa.
Andaya said Guico was rushed to the hospital but expired while undergoing medical treatment for a bullet wound in the chest.
Andaya said the sniper, after pulling the trigger, jumped into a white van that sped off from the crime scene.
He said Guico was allegedly the number one drug pusher in this city, who was able to continue his illegal drug trade even though he was detained for seven years now at the Dipolog City Correctional and Rehabilitation Center (DCCRC).
He said investigation continued aimed to identify and arrest Guico’s killer.
Guico is the first suspected drug pusher to be killed by an unidentified assassin. (PNA)
