To altogether convey the good developments in agriculture, the Regional Management Committee chaired by OIC-Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Regional Field Office 10 Carlene C. Collado, CPA along with the heads and representatives of DA attached agencies and line bureaus convene in a media interaction, earlier this afternoon, September 27, 2018 at the DA-RFO 10 Compound, here in the city of Cagayan de Oro. Said activity aimed to inform and update the media, including the public, of the department’s programs and activities towards the promotion and development of the agri-fisheries sector.
With the recent development of the Miarayon region farmers in Talakag, Bukidnon of delivering 40-60 tons of vegetables weekly to Luzon, OIC-RD Collado assured that there is enough supply of these commodities for the Mindanao-island, citing that this is even a conservative figure, considering the 3,000 hectares of farmlands devoted to vegetable production, in the town. With adequate support, he added, that farmers can produce 100 tons of vegetables in a week, especially so with DA chief Emmanuel F. Piñol’s downpour of agri-assistance, comprising of P20-million working capital, four units farm tractor, draft animals with farm implements, 1,000 plastic crates and P150-million easy access production loan. Further, he noted, that through this initiative, the region can help in stabilizing the prices of vegetables in the country’s capital, and filling in the required food supplies, as well. # (JLOlson/Photo credits: AMBManto)
